Sakkam Press is a digital publisher that provides a bridge between the English speaking and Japanese markets.

Our focus is on picture books and solving the many challenges that arise when converting picture books to a digital form. Technically, of course, it is straightforward to make a digital facsimile of a picture book. It is immediately apparent, though, that these digital reproductions have none of the impact of the printed original and a read-along track tagged on as an afterthought offers scant compensation.

One alternative is to release picture books as fully fledged apps rather than eBooks and for some works this may be the best approach. However, the development of apps is very expensive and the end result may draw on video gaming as much as it does story telling.

At Sakkam Press we believe there is alternative to lackluster eBooks and expensive-to-produce apps. From the starting point of a great picture book, it is possible to create a compelling eBook. This eBook can be linked to a dedicated micro-site that provides complementary material and is the basis for marketing activities.
